MENDOTA - The Illinois Valley Symphony Orchestra will hold their Young Performers Concerto Competition on Saturday, Jan. 8 from 9 a.m.-1 p.m. The competition is open to students in grades 6 through 12 who live or study in the Illinois Valley Community College district or as far east as Morris on Interstate 80.
Winners of the competition will have the opportunity to perform solo with the orchestra at the March 13 series concert, which will take place at LaSalle-Peru High School’s Matthiessen Memorial Auditorium. Students who are runners up and receive Honorable Mention will be recognized at an IVSO Honors Recital on Feb. 4 at the Fine Arts Factory in the Westclox Building.
Application forms are available online at ivso.org. The deadline to apply is Dec. 1.
