Annual Larry Klein Memory Ride & Benefit postponed until 2021

Posted

LADD - Sadly, the 8th Annual Larry Klein Memory Ride & Benefit is being sidelined by the COVID-19 pandemic. With the guidelines for social distancing and the recently announced phases for Illinois, it is highly unlikely that by August an event with 200-plus people could be held.

This was an extremely difficult decision, but organizers felt it was for the best. They explained that many weeks are needed to plan stops, secure sponsors, arrange other details, and gather donations for the silent auction and raffle. Since this type of benefit cannot be thrown together in a short time, there was no real option to “wait and see.”

Because it is important for the group to continue support of the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention (AFSP), they will sell shirts. Shirts are $20 and this year, they will have a unique design. For ordering details, visit their Facebook page (Larry Klein Memory Ride & Benefit) or call (309) 363-8811.

Monetary donations made payable to AFSP will still be accepted and may be mailed to Tracy Wright, 110 S. Selby Ave., Ladd, IL 61329. A donation site has also been set up on their Facebook page for secure online giving. Donations are tax-deductible, AFSP is a 501(c)3 organization.

The group expressed their appreciation for the support and understanding that has been shown. In the past seven years, they have raised over $40,000 for suicide awareness and they hope to see everyone in August 2021.
