PRINCETON – Singer-songwriters Anna Tivel and Jeffrey Martin will perform at the Princeton Coffeehouse on Saturday, Oct. 27, at 7:30 p.m.
The two complement one another in their joint appearances, doing solo pieces and duets. It could be Martin taking the lead with Tivel accompanying on mandolin and fiddle or vice-versa with Martin on guitar.
Based in Portland, Ore., Tivel and Martin keep up a busy touring schedule in this country and abroad. Martin begins a UK tour in December.
National Public Radio’s Ann Powers said of Tivel: “Singer-songwriters are often called poets. In truth, only a few deliver the deep insight and sense of the new that breaking through the predictable achieves. Anna Tivel is one.”
Martin has been lauded as a singer-songwriter who “truly possesses a gift for marrying Americana music and expertly penned words in an expressive way that paints a vivid picture of people, places, and events that are at once relatable and highly interesting.”
Blue Jay Way Records is the sponsor of the Anna Tivel and Jeffrey Martin concert at the Coffeehouse. Admission is $15 at the door.
The Princeton Coffeehouse is located at the Open Prairie UCC Church, 25 East Marion, in downtown Princeton. The venue is completely accessible and there is ample free parking nearby. Doors open at 7 p.m. Fair trade coffee, tea, and homemade desserts are available.
