ROCHELLE – Alfred Taylor, 84, of Rochelle, formerly of West Brooklyn, passed away Dec. 4, 2022, at Rochelle Rehabilitation and Healthcare Center.
There will be no local services. Cremation rites have been accorded. Wasmer Funeral Home is privileged to assist the family.
Alfred was born Sept. 20, 1938, in Russellville, Ala., to Eugene and Mattie (Devaney) Taylor. He married the love of his life Dolores Schwabauer on Oct. 3,1959 in Cicero.
Al will be forever missed by his wife Dolores of West Brooklyn; son Michael (Theresa) Taylor of West Brooklyn; three grandchildren, Peter, Pam and Pearl Taylor; and a sister, Ruth Durrett of Greenbriar, Ala.
He was preceded in death by his parents; six brothers, Elmer, Jim, Bill, Bob, Willard and Earl Taylor; a sister Martha Baird; and granddaughter Phiona Taylor.
Al proudly served in the United States Air Force during the Vietnam Era. During his work career he was in inside sales for Pheoll Manufacturing and Archer Screw Manufacturing until his retirement in 2000. Al was the youngest son of a farmer and always loved all things associated with the farm, especially John Deere equipment of every sort. His greatest joy was his grandchildren. As a young parent, he became involved in Boy Scouts, and even after his son was through the ranks, he stayed on to mentor other young men.
