MENDOTA - Alberta Rose Smith, 87, of Mendota passed away Aug. 8, 2017 at her home.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, Aug. 11 at the Merritt Funeral Home, Mendota with Rev. Kent Svendsen officiating. Burial will be at Restland Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4-7 p.m. on Thursday, Aug. 10 at the funeral home.
Alberta was born Jan. 20, 1930 in Mendota to Edward and Rose (Nickel) Olsen. She married Herman Smith on Aug. 31, 1951 in Mendota. He preceded her in death in 1996.
Survivors include three sons, Michael E. (Kim) Smith and Charles L. (Gerri) Smith, both of Mendota and Randy (Tamara Gibson) Smith of Arlington; two sisters, Mildred Stamberger and June (Don) Kofoid, both of Mendota; grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren; and nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband; one son, Jody in 2013; three brothers, Stanley Olsen, Harold Olsen and Lester Olsen in infancy; and three sisters, Ruth Botts, Mae Clark and Lucille Olsen.
Alberta was a homemaker and enjoyed cleaning houses and visiting with people. She loved to donate to several different charities and organizations.
