MENDOTA - Albert Charles Elsesser, Jr., 82, of Mendota passed away March 7, 2019 at the Mendota Lutheran Home.
Funeral services will be held at 11:30 a.m. on Wednesday, March 13 at St. John’s Lutheran Church, Mendota with Rev. Susan Presley officiating. Burial will be at Restland Cemetery. Visitation will be for one hour prior to the funeral at the church. Merritt Funeral Home handled the arrangements.
Albert was born Oct. 14, 1936 in Mendota to Albert and Henrietta (Bellinghausen) Elsesser, Sr.
Survivors include one sister, Mary (Fred) Wehmeyer and nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; one brother, Rich Elsesser and one sister, Ruth Freeman.
Albert attended Mendota schools and graduated from Mendota High School in 1954. He later attended business school in Rockford where he studied accounting. After high school, he worked in the family grocery store. He also worked at Wayside Press, Conco and Spartan Tool in Mendota before retiring in 1990. He was a member of St. John’s Lutheran Church serving on several committees and volunteering as often as possible. He was a life member of Mendota Elks Lodge 1212 and the Mendota Garden Club. He was a faithful supporter of the Mendota Trojans attending football, basketball and volleyball games. He enjoyed attending musical presentations in the community and bowling in the Elks Lodge leagues. He loved to travel and took road trips throughout the United States visiting historical locations. He especially enjoyed family gatherings including annual vacations in northern Wisconsin.
